Why choose us?
We have extensive experience of working these material over many years. Disappointed by the lack of information regarding native trees, John once spent an entire winter experimenting with barks other than birch. This research led to some interesting findings which we will pass on to you during this course. Nick has made a specialist study of many aspects of pre metal technology and is ideally placed to help and advise you.

| What's
it about? |
Although the ancient past is often described as the 'stone age' before the discovery of metals, our ancestors time would in fact have been enhanced by all kinds of different materials. This 2 day course will explore the use and working techniques of some of these and you will experiment with three of perhaps the most useful: bark, bone and antler. By the end you should have a good working knowledge of these materials and will have explored a series of possibilities for their use. You will also have some very nice craft pieces held together where appropriate with bark fibres and tree resins.
For fans of the primitive and for real authenticity of production, stone tools can be used for the creation of these craft pieces. |
