For
the real adventurer, what can be better than gliding
down the river, listening to the sound of the
paddle and taking in the beautiful British countryside.
Over the 7 days, we will be covering approximately
90 miles of the river Wye on the England/Wales
border. Supported by qualified and experienced
BCU coaches we will be using open 'Canadian' canoes
as vehicles to explore this abundant river environment.
No prior experience is necessary as you will be
given thorough training throughout the trip. There
will be the opportunity to obtain BCU skills awards
covering paddling strokes, white water, improvised
sailing and expedition skills. The course syllabus
also covers the necessity of planning, loading,
safety & rescue and equipment. All participants
should achieve the BCU 2* and dependent on conditions
and the individual, it may be possible to achieve
the BCU 3* award.
